Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Agape Energy collects, uses, and shares information when you use our apps, websites, and related services (the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Account and profile details such as name, email, username, display name, and profile image when you create or update an account (including sign-in via Apple or Google).
  • Phone number and SMS verification data such as your phone number, verification attempts (for example, when a code is requested and when it is verified), delivery status, and opt-out signals (for example, when you reply STOP). We may also store message metadata (for example, timestamps and provider message identifiers) for auditing and troubleshooting.
  • User content such as channel messages, reactions, attachments, prayer requests and updates, and reports or flags.
  • Prayer and community data such as prayer warrior preferences, assignment decisions, and request timelines.
  • Agape Allies and partner data such as application submissions, onboarding status, invite or NFC scan identifiers, and payout status. If you connect a payout method, Stripe provides us with payout status and related identifiers.
  • Device and usage data such as IP address, device identifiers, app version, platform, browser type, and analytics events (for example, app opens, screen views, and feature usage).
  • Program tracking data such as link clicks and NFC scans, including IP address, user agent, device signature hashes, and partner or asset identifiers. We may derive an approximate location from IP address for analytics.
  • Push notification data such as device tokens and delivery status so we can send notifications you request.
  • Local device storage such as cached profile and content data to improve performance and support offline access.
  • Location data if you choose to share it for store finder features. You can use the store finder without providing precise location.

We may also receive information from third parties, including payment providers, form platforms, and commerce platforms used in the Agape Allies program.

How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Authenticate users and protect account security.
  • Verify phone numbers and send SMS messages you request (for example, verification codes and Agape Allies program updates).
  • Deliver community features like channels and prayer workflows.
  • Operate the Agape Allies program and process payouts.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you.
  • Analyze usage and performance to improve reliability.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or violations.

SMS and phone verification

If you choose to verify a phone number or opt in to SMS, we use SMS to deliver verification codes and operational communications related to the Agape Allies program.

  • SMS data collected: We collect your phone number, verification attempts (for example, when a code is requested and verified), delivery status, opt-out signals (for example, when you reply STOP), and message metadata such as timestamps and provider message identifiers.
  • How we use SMS data: We use this data to authenticate users, deliver requested SMS messages, provide account or Agape Allies program updates, respond to support requests, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Not sold or shared: We do not sell SMS data or share SMS data with third parties for their marketing purposes. We also do not share SMS consent with third parties.
  • Sharing restrictions: We only share SMS data with service providers that help us send or verify messages (for example, Telnyx) and only as needed to provide the SMS service.
  • Consent: When you provide a phone number for verification or submit an SMS consent, you authorize us to send SMS messages to that number for the purposes described in this policy.
  • Opt-out: You can opt out of non-essential SMS messages by replying STOP. For help, reply HELP. If you opt out, some features that depend on SMS (including phone verification) may be unavailable.
  • Carrier charges: Message and data rates may apply based on your carrier plan.
  • Delivery: SMS delivery can be delayed or fail due to carrier or device factors outside our control.

How we share information

We share information in the following situations:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Services, including hosting, analytics, notifications, video streaming, payments, form processing, and messaging/SMS delivery.
  • Program and commerce partners to process applications, fulfill orders, and run payouts.
  • Legal and safety reasons when required by law or to protect our users and the community.
  • Business transfers if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

We use well-known providers including Firebase (authentication, analytics, messaging), AWS (hosting and storage), Stripe (payouts), Typeform (program applications), Shopify (commerce reporting), Telnyx (SMS delivery and phone verification), Bunny (video streaming), and the Digital Bible Platform (Bible content).

Public and community information

Some information is visible to other users by design. For example, your username and profile image may appear in channels and community features. Messages and attachments you post in channels can be viewed by other users.

Prayer requests are shared with prayer volunteers, and administrators may review content for moderation and safety. We encourage you not to include sensitive personal details in public areas of the Services.

Your choices and rights

  • Access, update, or correct your profile information.
  • Control push notifications through your device settings.
  • Limit location sharing using your device permissions.
  • Control SMS communications by replying STOP to opt out (and HELP for help), where applicable.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. We will honor applicable rights requests as required by law.

Data deletion

Both the iOS and Android apps include an account deletion option in SettingsAccount Delete account. Using the Delete account button initiates removal of your account and associated personal data, subject to our retention practices.

If you connected Instagram, you can remove the Instagram connection using the Instagram deauthorize (disconnect) button in account settings. This revokes our access to your Instagram account.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary based on the type of data and how it is used. When you delete your account, we remove direct account artifacts and de-identify shared community history where needed to preserve other users' timelines and moderation integrity. We may retain limited financial and compliance records when required by law.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These locations may have different data protection laws than your region.

Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, when appropriate, provide additional notice.
